Consultant Hepatologist

Richard Parker qualified from the University of Bristol and completed specialist training in liver disease at the University of Birmingham and the Birmingham Liver Transplant Unit, in 2009. During his PhD in 2011, he studied mechanisms of inflammation in liver disease with a particular focus on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. He was then appointed as a clinical lecturer in Birmingham and established several research projects with partners in the UK, Europe and the USA to investigate alcohol-related liver disease. He was appointed as a Consultant Hepatologist in Leeds in 2017. He is interested in alcohol related liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
